Hello!
I am Samantha Wyatt and this is my husband Jeremiah. We have four kids: 2 boys and 2 girls.
After we had our oldest, I got postpartum depression. It wrecked me for well over a year and I struggled to get anything done during the day.
When I had my second kid, I was determined not to have postpartum depression. I researched nutrional therapy and found the Walsh Protocol.
Create Motherly Love was started to help mothers in a similar situation. Our goal is to help as many mothers as possible.
Why should you take this supplement?

Vitamin D
The best source of vitamin D comes from the Sun. However, there are many different factors that reduce the effects of sunlight exposure(extra layers, high temperatures at midday, sitting in the shade, etc.). Most people become deficient in vitamin D during the winter months(even if they are spending hours outside). In addition, most pregnant women become deficient in vitamin D.
Vitamin D deficiency is heavily correlated to postpartum depression. Since there are not many foods that contain enough vitamin D(i.e. rainbow trout and certain raw mushrooms), it is highly recommended that postpartum women supplement with vitamin D.
In addition to decreasing the symptoms of postpartum depression, vitamin D promotes good bone health and supports the immune system.

Zinc
As a women progresses through pregnancy, her copper levels rise. When copper is too high, it can cause irritability and anxiety. Zinc combats high copper.
Zinc also helps the immune system and aids in wound healing.

B12
B12 helps with the production of red blood cells. B12 deficiency is linked to postpartum depression. B12 also helps with bone and eye health.
Methylcobalamin is a natural form of B12, same with Adenoslcbalomin. These are the most metabolically active forms, which allows for your body to process more B12, faster. Our ideal formula will contain both forms of B12, but it was not possible to do so for our first batch.

Magnesium
Many breastfeeding women are deficient in magnesium, which can cause feelings of anxiety, rage and depression. Magnesium helps to calm down the nervous system and relax muscles.
There are many different types of magnesium. When a nursing mother gets mastitis, she can use magnesium sulfate(epsom salt) to relieve the pain. Epsom salt is also recommended to soothe hemorrhoids and constipation after labor.
Our supplement contains Magnesium glycinate. Magnesium glycinate calms the nerves without being a strong laxative.

Vitamin B6
Vitamin B6 is vital for supporting mood and overall brain health. Mothers who are at risk for postpartum depression have lower levels of B6. Vitamin B6 is vital for hemoglobin production.
Pyridoxal 5 Phosphate is the activated version of B6. Activated B vitamins allow for your body to absorb more vitamin B faster and more efficiently.

Choline
The benefits that mothers can receive from Choline are: improved cognitive function, mood support and nervous system regulation.
Choline isn’t just vital for mothers: infants need it for healthy brain development. Infants who consume breast milk with higher levels of choline in it are found to have better memories and quicker cognitive skills.

Vitamin A
Vitamin A needs increase from 770 mcg (when pregnant) to 1300 mcg when breastfeeding. Infants need to increase their vitamin A stores, which is why colostrum is so high in vitamin A.
Vitamin A is needed to assist the immune system and support eye health.
Palamite is a preformed vitamin A, and already in its active form to be used by the body.

Vitamin K
Vitamin K is most known for its blood-clotting properties. The liver uses vitamin K to make blood-clotting proteins.
Unlike other fat soluble vitamins, vitamin k is quickly removed from the body, meaning that it must be replenished often.
Labor causes a sudden drop in estrogen levels, which is needed to regulate bone health. Vitamin K helps your body to metabolize calcium, which is the primary component of your bones.

Iron
The amount of iron a woman requires each day changes depending on if she is pregnant, menstruating or postpartum. A pregnant woman requires 27 mg of Iron, while a menstruating woman requires 18 mg. It is recommended that postpartum women take 9 mg of iron daily, but this does not consider the fact that each woman bleeds differently after having a baby.
Our supplement contains 18 mg of iron because many women get their periods back before a year postpartum or experienced excessive blood loss during labor(especially since the c-section rate is so high in the USA).

Selenium
Selenium is necessary for a healthy thyroid. It reduces the risk of getting hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's disease. In addition, low selenium levels have been linked to postpartum depression.

Vitamin E
Vitamin E is an antioxidant and vital for eye health. As an antioxidant, vitamin E promotes healing from pregnancy and labor. Vitamin E increases the production of antibodies(which benefits both mom and baby).
Breastmilk quality is higher when consuming vitamin E because it aids in the production of lipids(a primary ingredient in breastmilk). Vitamin E also has anti-inflammatory properties, and decreases the chance of getting mastitis.

Vitamin C
Collagen production and iron absorption are reliant on vitamin C. Many women tear during labor or receive a c-section, which cuts through several layers of skin. Vitamin C is therefore needed in order to heal wounds.

Folate
Low levels of Folate can cause symptoms of depression. Folate is essential during pregnancy, which can cause a depletion in mothers. In addition, Folate prevents neural tube defects in babies. Neural tube defects can occur before you get a positive pregnancy test.
Folic acid is the synthetic form of Folate. Between 30-40% of the population has the MTHFR mutation that limits the absorption of Folic Acid. This is why our postpartum supplement includes methylated Folate. We want to be able to help as many women as possible.

Omega-3
Low levels of Omega-3 has been linked to postpartum depression. Your body needs healthy fats in order to make brain and eye tissue. Healthy fats are present in every cell in the body.
If a mother does not receive enough healthy fats during pregnancy, her body will take fat from her brain to grow her baby.
Omega-3 is found in two main forms: EPA and DHA. Our supplement contains DHA. DHA is important for the regulation and development of the nervous system. It's also vital for brain and eye health. EPA is responsible for reducing inflammation.
